Aldeburgh, Suffolk
Aldeburgh had 2900 inhabitants in 1981 (estimated at 3,500 in 2001). It lost its status as a municpal borough in 1974, but still has its Mayor with the Mayor's robes, gowns, chains and badges of office, in which the inhabitants still take pride.
