Saxtead Green, Suffolk

The "Post Mill" at Saxtead, Suffolk.
The "Post Mill", a cornmill at Saxtead Green, Suffolk.

We now leave Blythburgh, located in the east towards the Channel and North Sea and go back inland. During one of our excursions, just riding around to enjoy the landscape, we came across the mill at Saxtead. Narrow roads lead through golden-yellow cornfields covering the hilly landscape. Often the roads are sunken between the fields and lined with trees and shrubs. One such hollow road led to a Y-junction, with a good view of the beautifully restored “Post Mill” of Saxtead Green, built around 1700.
