Adansonia digitata - We recommend that you visit the following site which provides excellent information about the Baobab tree: South African National Biodiversity Institute. You will not only learn that it is the 'upside-down' tree, that the tree may become as old as 2.000 years, and how useful all parts of the tree are, but also that there are 8 species (Buzau), including one species in Australia and 4 native to Madagascar. The baobab is member of the kapok tree family, including the kapok tree (seed pods are used for pillow stuffings), the durian (delicious but badly smelling fruits) and the ornamental silk tree.
